‘Musical taste’ is one of the seven pillars of friendship identified by Camilleri, Rockey and Dunbar in their book ‘The Social Brain’.

So it turns out that the music you love has a big impact on the people that you develop relationships with.

For me, it’s drum and bass. Many of the good friends that I have in my network also love drum and bass.

So what is it that makes us love the music we love?

We have taken a framework called a ‘listener profile’ that uses seven dimensions to help you identify what it is that makes you love the music that you love.

The book that talks in depth about these seven dimensions is called ‘This is what it sounds like’ and is written by Susan Rogers and Ogi Ogas.
