Mental Health Awareness Week
October 6, 2024 - October 12, 2024
Mental health awareness week aims to promote an understanding of what mental health is and knowledge of how to support good mental wellbeing.
Who celebrates?
Everyone – it’s a national awareness week!
How do people celebrate?
- People and organisations celebrate by raising awareness about mental health issues, recognising the importance of having good mental health and ensuring that individuals are receive the support they need
- You can also connect to this year’s theme once it’s announced.
What should I know?
- 1 in 4 people every year experience a mental health problem in England
- 1 in 6 people report a ‘common’ mental health problem each week (e.g. depression, anxiety)
- Each year there is a different theme – keep an eye on this page to find out the theme for 2022.
How can I support others?
- Take care of your own mental health first
- Take time to consider how your organisation supports the mental health of your employees and service users
- Talk to your team about mental health and discuss personal experiences if they feel comfortable to share
- Take the opportunity to make sure your people know the resources available to support them
- Recognise when someone may need professional support.
